With anguish in her voice, Phansamone talked about her 3-month-old son who died in her arms just last year.
“He got sick and cried all night,” she wept. “I took him to a witch doctor for treatment, but his stomach got really big, and he got sicker. I also bought medicine, but he died.”
She tried to brush away the memory by stroking the cheek of the child that slept in her arms.
But her story got worse. Phansamone said she has given birth four times. The baby she held that day is the only one to survive … so far.
