Please Pray With Us

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1

At World Concern, prayer is foundational to everything we do. We invite you to join us in praying for the people we serve in some of the most difficult, dangerous places in the world. Your prayers offer protection, healing, provision, and move mountains for those who are suffering and in need.

We also invite you to rejoice with us and pray prayers of thanksgiving for all that God is doing and has done through your support of World Concern.

Updated August 20, 2021: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

If it feels to you like the world is in a constant state of turmoil right now, you are not alone. Many are suffering, and in the world’s poorest places, the suffering is intensified by disasters, conflict, and extreme poverty.

You might feel like there’s nothing you can do… but there is something. We can pray. Jesus foresaw trouble and tribulation for His followers, and reminds us that prayer is our strength, our weapon, in the face of what we see happening around us.

The Bible tells us that God hears our prayers—and He answers.

“I love the Lord because he hears my prayers and answers them. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I breathe!” Ps. 116:1-2

Today, we invite you to join the World Concern teams around the world in praying for the people of Haiti and Afghanistan.

Pray for Haiti

As you’ve likely heard, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the southern peninsula of Haiti on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 14. Thousands lost their lives, and nearly 10,000 people are injured. As many as 53,000 homes were destroyed, and another 77,000 damaged.

The numbers are staggering, and we can indeed become disheartened and hopeless. But amidst the disaster, there is hope from the One in whom we can place our hope—Jesus Christ.

We thank God that because it was a Saturday, children were not in school, as many schools collapsed or were heavily damaged in the quake. We also thank God that all World Concern staff and their families in the region are safe. They are fearlessly trying to reach those in greatest need, as well as providing emergency water, food, and shelter.

Please join us in praying for peace, healing, and restoration in Haiti.

Please pray for wisdom and safety as our teams administer aid and assistance to people. Please pray for the search and rescue efforts, for people to be rescued, and for the rain from tropical storms to cease. Pray for comfort, help, and indescribable peace for those who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Pray for an end to gang violence and political instability that could hinder relief efforts.

Pray for Afghanistan

Our hearts are heavy with grief and sadness, as we see the images of terror and chaos coming out of Afghanistan. Although World Concern has not worked in Afghanistan since 2005, we have many partners and friends in the region. We invite you to pray with us for the people of Afghanistan, for God to bring peace, stability, and to thwart the plans of the Enemy (Satan). Our prayers and compassion go out to the families in Afghanistan.

Thank you for your prayers. As always, please let us know below how we can be praying for you.

How Can We Pray for You?

All of us at World Concern want you to know that we are here for you. Our ministry is not only to the poorest families in hard-to-reach places; we are called to minister to you.

Please share your prayer request in the form and know that we will be lifting up your needs before the Lord. And please update us here. We’d love to hear how God answers, and how we can continue praying for you.

God bless you, friend. You are a vital part of this ministry, and we are so grateful for you.
