Lbaa Loltepes

Kenya

This is Lbaa Loltepes

Far beyond the end of the road in Northern Kenya is the village of Lbaa Loltepes, a community of 512 residents. The people are nomadic livestock keepers, keeping cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys, with women owning chickens. The village has beautiful indigenous trees, a seasonal river, and the presence of a strong leadership structure. Male elders are the key decision makers, with the young men, known as Morans, protecting the community from wild animals and hostile intruders.

Most of the people have never attended school and less than six percent are literate. The people hold to traditional religious beliefs, though there is a Christian church body that meets and the New Testament in their own language is becoming more available.

Drought is an ever-present threat to the well-being of Lbaa Loltepes, depleting vegetation and livestock. Because the water they have is filled with parasites and shared with animals, children and families are frequently ill with water-borne diseases.

The families of Lbaa Loltepes village are ready for change. With your support, they will experience lasting transformation and a bright future for themselves and the next generation.
