Nyiwal

South Sudan

This is Nyiwal

Covered with thick, tall grasses and dotted with mahogany trees, Nyiwal village is home to a small farming community. Families here live off crops like sorghum, sesame, ground nuts and local vegetables, and small livestock such as goats, sheep, chicken and fish. The village is led by a council of elders, and the people here experience peace amongst themselves.

However, Nyiwal is impacted by a variety of challenges that make life here more than difficult. Without clean water sources and usable wells, children are often sick with preventable water-borne disease. There are no health facilities, so when they are sick they must travel great distances to get treatment–and during the rainy season, some roads within the village are completely impassable.
There is a significant lack of qualified educators, so many villagers are unable to read or write as a result—kids here also need a formal classroom. Without somewhere to study, many children fall behind.

The families in Nyiwal Village are ready for change. With your support, they will experience lasting transformation and a bright future for themselves and the next generation.
