Yivu

DRC

This is Yivu

Just a few miles from the Ugandan border, the village of Yivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo is home to four different tribes who live in harmony. Made up of about 3,500 individuals in total, the families here put food on the table through farming, growing a variety of small crops and raising livestock. Despite this, many families in this village suffer from poor nutrition because they are missing essential vitamins due to their limited diet.

Perhaps the most dire challenge that families in this village face is the lack of clean drinking water, and poor sanitation. There are no reliable sources of clean water nearby (such as wells), and almost no households have access to a proper latrine. Because of this significant hurdle, there is currently an epidemic of preventable disease.

To compound this issue further, there are no healthcare facilities nearby–not even a pharmacy to get medicine for sick children.

However, there is hope despite the challenges this village currently faces. With the right tools and training, a brighter day is just around the corner. The people of Yivu Village are ready for change. With your support, they will experience lasting transformation and a bright future for themselves and the next generation.
